Get My Truck Estimate →A professional car wrap in Chicago costs $2,200–$3,800 and is completed in 2–3 days. A quality custom paint job runs $3,000–$10,000+ and takes 1–3 weeks. The wrap protects the factory paint, is fully reversible, and is 100% tax deductible as a business advertising expense under IRS Section 179. Paint is permanent. Wraps are not. If you want to change the look of your car every few years, wrap wins every time.
A car wrap installed with premium cast vinyl at Chicago Fleet Wraps is rated for 5–7 years. Chicago's climate is harsh. Road salt, freeze-thaw cycles, summer UV. Our Avery Dennison and 3M cast vinyl is engineered for it. Calendered vinyl (used by cheaper shops) shrinks, cracks, and lifts within 1–2 years. We never use it. Every car wrap we install is backed by a 2-year workmanship warranty and the manufacturer's 5–7 year material warranty.
Chicago has dozens of wrap shops. Most are fine. A few are great. Here's how to tell the difference. And what separates shops that do 50 wraps a year from shops like us that do 19,400+.
The answer should be Avery Dennison MPI 1105 or 3M IJ180-CV3. If they say "premium vinyl" without naming the manufacturer, they're using budget material. If they mention any brand you don't recognize, that's calendered vinyl and it will fail within 2 years.
In Chicago, this matters. Vinyl applied in cold or hot conditions doesn't adhere correctly. The adhesive needs 68–75°F to activate properly. Any shop working in an unheated garage in winter is producing inferior installs.
A legitimate installer warrants their workmanship. Our standard is 2 years. Lift edges, peeling, or application failures within that window are fixed at no charge. A shop that won't warranty work doesn't believe in it.
Portfolio photos are easy to curate. Asking to see a vehicle they wrapped 6 months ago tells you everything about how the install holds up over time. We welcome this request.
Chicago winters are hard on vehicles. Salt, freeze-thaw cycling, and UV exposure in summer are the three main threats to your wrap's lifespan. Here's the maintenance protocol we give every customer:
Road salt accelerates edge lift. A quick rinse. Even touchless. Removes salt before it works under edges.
Brush car washes abrade the surface over time. Touchless is acceptable; brushes are not. Use a vinyl-safe soap.
Wax creates glossy spots on flat finishes. Use a spray vinyl sealant designed for matte surfaces instead.
If an edge starts to lift, it's a 5-minute fix. Or a peeled panel in two weeks. Call us. We handle warranty work fast.
UV exposure and freeze-thaw are the primary life reducers. Indoor parking can add 1–2 years to a wrap's life in Chicago's climate.
EV charging cables and charging port covers need extra attention during washes. We wrap around charging ports. Not over them. Routine is the same: hand wash, no brush, rinse salt in winter.
Lower rocker panels and wheel wells accumulate salt and road debris faster. Pay extra attention to these areas during winter rinses. Check rocker seams monthly for early lift.
Schedule removal before lease turn-in. We remove wraps as a service and the factory paint will be in better shape than if it had been exposed. Book at least 2 weeks before turn-in date.

The answer must be Avery Dennison MPI 1105, 3M IJ180-CV3, or a named equivalent. "Premium vinyl" without a manufacturer name means budget calendered material. It will fail within 2 years.
Vinyl needs 68–75°F to adhere correctly. In a Chicago winter, an unheated shop is producing wraps that will lift within months. Ours is temperature-regulated year-round.

When considering fleet wraps for your Chicago business, understanding the investment and potential return is crucial. The cost of a fleet wrap varies significantly based on vehicle type, coverage (full vs. partial), and design complexity. For a standard commercial van like a Ford Transit or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, a full wrap typically ranges from $4,700 to $6,500 per vehicle. Smaller vehicles, such as a Toyota RAV4 or Ford F-150, might range from $2,800 to $5,500 for a full wrap.
Partial wraps, which often cover 25-75% of the vehicle, offer a more budget-friendly option while still providing significant branding impact. These can range from $1,500 to $3,500 for a commercial van or truck, depending on the design and coverage area. While the initial outlay might seem substantial, the cost per impression for vehicle wraps is remarkably low compared to traditional advertising methods like billboards or radio spots, offering an unparalleled return on investment for businesses operating across Chicagoland.
The ROI of fleet wraps extends beyond just advertising. A professionally wrapped fleet projects an image of credibility and professionalism, instilling confidence in your customers whether you're servicing homes in Roscoe Village or commercial properties in the West Loop. With an average lifespan of 5-7 years for our premium materials, a CFW wrap provides continuous, 24/7 brand exposure, making it one of the most effective and enduring marketing tools for any Chicago-based business looking to expand its reach and reputation.
At Chicago Fleet Wraps, we understand that minimizing downtime for your vehicles is paramount to your business operations. Our tight installation process is designed for efficiency without compromising quality. Depending on the vehicle type and wrap complexity, a full fleet wrap typically takes 2-4 days per vehicle. Partial wraps can often be completed in 1-2 days. We offer complimentary fleet pickup and delivery across Chicagoland, from Schaumburg to Oak Lawn, to ensure a hassle-free experience.
Before installation, our team conducts a thorough vehicle inspection and cleaning to ensure optimal vinyl adhesion. Post-installation, we provide complete care instructions to help you maintain the vibrancy and longevity of your fleet wraps. Simple hand washing with mild soap and water is generally sufficient. We advise against abrasive cleaning chemicals or high-pressure washes too close to seams, which could compromise the wrap's integrity.
Our commitment to quality extends beyond the initial installation. Chicago Fleet Wraps stands by its work with a strong 2-year workmanship warranty, offering peace of mind for your investment. This, combined with the inherent durability of Avery Dennison MPI 1105 and 3M IJ180-CV3 films, ensures your fleet maintains its sharp, professional appearance through Chicago's harsh winters and humid summers, continuing to effectively promote your brand without verified paint damage claims.
