Understanding Wrap Pricing Factors
Vehicle wrap pricing is determined by four primary factors: vehicle size (measured in square footage), vinyl tier (cast vs. specialty), coverage level (full, partial, or lettering), and design complexity. At Chicago Fleet Wraps, we provide transparent, itemized quotes so you know exactly what you're paying for — no hidden fees, no surprise charges.
Vehicle size is the biggest cost driver. A compact car has approximately 150 square feet of wrappable surface. A cargo van has 250–350 square feet. A 26-foot box truck has 500–700 square feet. More surface area means more material and more labor hours. We measure every vehicle precisely using manufacturer templates to ensure accurate quotes.
Vinyl tier affects both material cost and longevity. Our standard premium cast vinyl (Avery Dennison MPI 1105 / 3M IJ180-CV3) is $9.75 per square foot installed. Color change wraps using specialty films (matte, satin, metallic, chrome) are $8.25–$14.00 per square foot. Reflective vinyl for emergency and utility vehicles is $24.00 per square foot.
Fleet discounts reduce per-vehicle cost significantly: 3% for 2–4 vehicles, 7% for 5–9 vehicles, 11% for 10–24 vehicles, and 15% for 25+ vehicles. These discounts reflect economies of scale in design (one template, multiple vehicles) and production (batch printing and installation scheduling).
