Types of Vinyl Wraps We Offer

Full Vinyl Vehicle Wraps

A full vinyl wrap covers every painted surface of the vehicle — doors, hood, roof, bumpers, fenders, and rear. The vehicle's original paint is completely concealed under a seamless layer of printed or colored vinyl. Full wraps provide maximum visual impact and the highest advertising value for commercial vehicles. For businesses, a full wrap turns every vehicle into a mobile billboard generating 30,000-70,000 daily impressions.

Partial Vinyl Wraps

Partial wraps cover select panels — typically the sides and rear of the vehicle — while leaving some original paint visible. Partial wraps cost 40-60% less than full wraps and still deliver strong brand visibility. They're ideal for businesses with newer vehicles where the paint color complements the brand design, or for companies with tighter budgets that still want professional vehicle graphics.

Color Change Vinyl Wraps

Color change wraps use solid-color cast vinyl to completely transform a vehicle's appearance. Available in gloss, matte, satin, metallic, and textured finishes, color change wraps offer a reversible alternative to repainting. Popular finishes include matte black, satin white, gloss midnight blue, and metallic gunmetal. Learn more about color change wraps →

Commercial & Fleet Vinyl Wraps

Our specialty. We wrap fleets of 3 to 50+ vehicles with consistent, professional branding. Every vehicle in your fleet gets identical graphics — same colors, same placement, same quality. Volume discounts of 5-15% apply. See our fleet wrap services →

Cast Vinyl vs. Calendered Vinyl — Why It Matters

The vinyl used for your wrap determines how long it lasts, how it looks, and whether it damages your paint. There are two types of vehicle wrap vinyl, and the difference is critical:

Cast Vinyl (What We Use)

Cast vinyl is manufactured by pouring liquid PVC onto a casting sheet and allowing it to cure naturally. This process creates a thin, conformable film that wraps around curves, rivets, and recessed areas without stretching or distorting. Cast vinyl has a memory — once applied and post-heated, it stays where you put it. It doesn't shrink in cold weather or lift at edges.

We use Avery Dennison MPI 1105 and 3M IJ180Cv3 — both rated for 5-7 years of outdoor durability in all climates. These are the same films used by national fleet companies like Amazon, FedEx, and UPS for their vehicle graphics.

Calendered Vinyl (What Cheap Shops Use)

Calendered vinyl is manufactured by pressing PVC through rollers under heat and pressure. This creates a thicker, stiffer film that's cheaper to produce but significantly inferior for vehicle applications. Calendered vinyl doesn't conform to curves — it bridges over rivets and recessed areas, creating air pockets that eventually fail. In Chicago's freeze-thaw climate, calendered vinyl shrinks, cracks, and peels within 12-18 months.

If a wrap shop quotes you significantly below market rate, they're almost certainly using calendered vinyl. The $800-1,200 you save upfront will cost you $3,000+ when the wrap fails and needs to be removed and replaced within a year.

Our Vinyl Wrap Installation Process

Every vinyl wrap we install follows the same rigorous process — whether it's a single car or a 50-vehicle fleet:

  1. Vehicle inspection and measurement — we photograph and measure every panel to create precise templates
  2. Surface preparation — hand wash, clay bar, isopropyl alcohol decontamination
  3. Vinyl application — wet or dry application depending on panel geometry, using squeegees and heat guns
  4. Edge wrapping and tucking — vinyl is wrapped around panel edges and tucked into door jambs for a seamless finish
  5. Post-heating — every edge and curve is heated to 210-220°F to activate adhesive memory
  6. 47-point quality inspection — every seam, edge, rivet, and transition is checked before delivery

Frequently Asked Questions About Vinyl Wraps in Chicago

How much does a vinyl wrap cost in Chicago?

Vinyl wrap pricing in Chicago ranges from $1,500 for a partial wrap to $10,900 for a large box truck full wrap. A standard cargo van full wrap costs $3,750-$5,200. Color change wraps range from $3,500-$7,500. Fleet discounts of 5-15% apply for 3+ vehicles. All commercial wraps are tax-deductible under IRS Section 179.

How long does a vinyl wrap last in Chicago weather?

A professional vinyl wrap using Avery Dennison or 3M cast vinyl lasts 5-7 years in Chicago's climate — including harsh winters, road salt, and summer heat. Cheap calendered vinyl from budget shops fails in 12-18 months. The vinyl type is the single biggest factor in wrap longevity.

Will a vinyl wrap damage my car's paint?

No. Professional-grade cast vinyl actually protects the paint underneath from UV damage, minor scratches, and road debris. When removed properly by a professional, the paint underneath is in better condition than exposed paint. This preserves your vehicle's resale value.

Can you vinyl wrap a leased vehicle?

Yes. Vinyl wraps are fully removable without paint damage, making them ideal for leased vehicles. When the lease ends, we can remove the wrap and return the vehicle to its original condition. Many fleet operators wrap leased vehicles specifically because wraps are non-permanent.
